Founded by Lucius Smith Lowe in 1946, Lowe’s is a chain of home improvement and appliance stores that operates in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

Lowe’s was started in North Carolina and has since expanded rapidly. When they first started out, they also sold groceries and produce. The store was eventually split into two divisions, one that sold home improvement products and another that sold groceries. While Lowes Foods aren't as well known, there are locations in parts of the southeastern United States.

Meanwhile, Lowe's home imrpovement has over 1,800 stores in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. As mentioned previously, Lowe’s is second in sales in the United States when it comes to home improvement. But did you know that they're also the second-biggest home improvement store in the entire world?  

Lowe’s very caring workers pitched in to help disaster recovery efforts after a flood.

After a flood in Bossier City, Louisiana, Lowe’s employees showed their caring side by pitching in with the disaster relief efforts.

A group of “Lowe’s Heroes” came together to help distribute disaster recovery buckets. The buckets contained cleaning products and items such as work gloves to help with the disaster cleanup. Lowe’s also donated 10 freezers, so that recovery crews could store their food more easily.

All the employees who lent their time and work to the recovery efforts were volunteers.

The Lowe’s Heroes don’t only exist in Louisiana, though; employees from many of their stores volunteer every year to improve their local communities. They participate in thousands of projects per year and regularly donate money or supplies to communities in need.
