The history of H-E-B
Florence Butt founded a store called C.C. Butt Grocery Store in 1905 in Kerrville, Texas. When her son came back from World War I, he took over the store and expanded it. Her son's name? Howard E. Butt - his initials are the store's name today.

One of the notable things they do is to donate 5% of their earnings before taxes to chairty every single year. The donations go to a range of causes, which include food banks and educiational.
They also run a program called Excellence in Education, which has been around since 2000 and recognizes outstanding schools, teachers, and administrators throughout the state of Texas.
