The origins of Walgreens 

Founded in 1901, Walgreens is the second-largest drug retailing chain in the U.S. They have over 8,000 stores in all 50 U.S. states, plus D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

The Walgreens headquarters are in Chicago, which is also where the store was founded in 1901 by Charles R. Walgreen. By 1913, there were four Walgreens locations, and a total of 20 by 191. Walgreens became even more successful because of Prohibition in the 1920s. When alcohol was illegal, Walgreens sold prescription whiskey. They also launched a line of malted milkshakes around the same time that proved popular with consumers.

Walgreens is the only place in the world where you can find hot dog flavored Pringles.

Walgreens has signed an exclusive deal with Pringles to sell an unusual flavor of potato chip – hot dog Pringles.

The “Hot Diggity Dog” chips have been on sale at Walgreens since the beginning of 2016.  In the words of the Pringles marketing director, they have a “complex taste that comes back from a hot dog, between the mustard and spices, on the iconic asset of the Pringles chip.”

Walgreens isn’t the only store to have an exclusive flavor of Pringles. Walmart has a cheeseburger flavor, the Dollar General sells Philly Cheesetake chips, and Target has Bourbon BBQ Chicken.
