All about Costco
If youre throwing a big party, Costco is a great place to go to pick up supplies, as this stores speciality is selling products in bulk so their customers can save. To get access to the savings, though, you have to buy a membership.
There are different membership options you can choose from, including Costco Gold Star, Costco Business, or Costco Executive membership. The Executive membership gets you 2% back on purchases made throughout the year. Costco American Express goes hand in hand with these.
Costco has its own brand called Kirkland Signature. This private label allows Costco to distribute products with the same quality as the brands that we all know and love, but at a Costco discount. Other features and services that Costco provides are Costco photo, Costco travel, and Costco auto at some locations.
The origins of Costco
The idea of creating a retail warehouse first came from a store called Price Club that was started in San Diego in 1976. A transformation was made to PriceCostco, and then just Costco.
Costco has locations in 9 different countries. It is most successful in the United States, but globally it was the second largest retailer in the world in 2015. There are 705 Costco locations spread across the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, Mexico, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan.
Costco offers a special emergency food stockpile package, perhaps for shoppers fearing the apocalypse or a zombie invasion.
Costco is well known for selling products in gigantic quantities, which often result in big savings for its customers.
Some of its strangest offers include:
-Six live Maine lobsters weighing in at 1.25 pounds apiece
-Caskets and urns
-A barrel-shaped outdoor sauna that seats six,
-Four ounces of Italian white truffles (it’ll only cost you $799.99!).
But perhaps its most curious offering is a massive emergency food stockpile that costs $4000. It includes enough freeze-dried or dehydrated food to keep four people fed for an entire year. The food can stay good for 25 years.
