Originally created with the intent of selling a high volume of products at a low price in the 1960s, Walmart continues to offer its customers very good prices on its goods today. They offer a huge range of products, from everyday goods and clothes to things like prescriptions (via Walmart Pharmacy) and food (at Walmart supermarkets). Some locations also have restaurants inside so shoppers can grab a bite to eat while they get their shoping done. Others even offer gas stations outside to make the whole experience a one-stop shop. 40% of what's sold at Walmart are private label brands made just for them, such as the popular Sam's Choice drinks. They've even produced two movies aimed at family audiences that included proomotion of their products. With thousands of stores all over the U.S., the chances are good that there's a Walmart near you in your city or town. 

The origins of WALMART

Walmart was founded by Sam Walton in 1962. Today, they have over 11,000 stores in 28 countries, some of which are subsidiares run under different names like ASDA (U.K.), Best Price (India) and Seiyu (Japan). Walmart's headquarters are in Bentonville, Arkansas. It's the largest public coporation in the world ranked by revenue, and the 18th overall. Walmart employes over 2.2 million people worldwide at its stores and its the largest private employer in the United States.
