The origins of Macy's

Macy’s was founded in 1988 and has been going strong ever since. Macy’s has stores across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Guam. In total, they have nearly 800 stores.

Apart from its high-quality goods, Macy's is also known for the Thanksgiving parade it hosts. Every year since 1924, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place in New York City and has become a family tradition for many.

Macy’s works with the American Heart Association on the Go Red Get Fit campaign to raise awareness for heart disease.

Macy’s joined forces with the American Heart Association to raise awareness for heart disease. Together, they launched the Go Red Get Fit Initiative aimed at women to help improve their heart health.

The free initiative is centered on short challenges. Each challenge lasts 12 weeks, which is in theory the time needed to turn a behavior into a habit.

Some of the challenges include taking 10,000 steps a day and limiting sugar consumption, doing 30 minutes of cardio per day 5 days a week, drinking more water, doing a series of exercises designed by the Go Red Get Fit team, and limiting intake of sodium and saturated fat.

Since 2004, Macy’s has helped raise more than $55 million dollars for heart disease awareness.
