The history of JC Penney
JC Penney gets its name from its founders name: James Cash Penney. He was working for a dry goods store and opened up his own franchise, before turning it into his own store. It was founded in 1902, and within 10 years he had 34 stores. Five years after that,there were 175 stores located in 22 different states!
Today, there are over 1,000 JC Penney stores located across the country.
