The history of Tilly's
Tilly's was founded in 1982 in Southern California. Since its opening, the line of stores has quickly expanded across the country.
You'll usually be able to find a Tilly's store at your local shopping mall or shopping center. They're usually two or three times bigger than an average store, so they shouldn't be hard to spot! There are currently around 200 stores around the United States, with plans to expand to around 500 over the coming years. They're currently in 30 states, but expect to see them coming to even more!
The Tilly's founder started a center to help teens
Tilly Levine, one of the co-founders of Tilly's, has decided to give back to her community by founding a center for tens. It's called the Tilly's Life Center, and the idea is to help support kids and enable them to help themselves by giving them tools and workshops to become more empowered.
The idea came about when Levine realized that even though she was working with charities to help young people, none of the charities were helping kids to become more empowered and help themselves. So, she opened her center!
Their programs deal with tough topics, like cancer or suicide, and makes sures that teens are supported. The curriculum is all led by trained facilitators, and it's also supported with money raised at Tilly's locations.
