The store was started out with a longer name - C. C. Filson's Pioneer Alaska Clothing and Blanket Manufacturers. And it was more than just the name that was different back then. They also started out selling things that prospectors would need! The store was located in Seattle as a place for prospectors to stop before they headed on up to Alaska to take part in the Klondike Gold Rush.
