The history of BJ's
BJ's was founded in southern California in 1978, and originally went by the name Chicago Pizza. They had seven locations across the area by 1996, when they went public.
When they went public, they bought a chain of restaurants called Pietro's Pizza, which had 26 locations. Seven of these were sold off, and the rest were converted into BJ's locations.
In 2011, it was named one of the fastest-growing restaurants in the country. Today, there are 186 BJ's restaurants in 24 states.
BJ's beer is award-winning
If you're a beer lover, then you should head to BJ's - they've won a few awards for their beer. Well, more than a few, actually. They've won over 150 awards!
Amongst these wards include a few gold medals at The Great American Beer Festival. It also won the World Beer Cup Gold Medal for Robust Porter, The Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal for Session Beer, and more.
There are six BJs breweries that create the beer sold in its restaurants. You can purchase bottles and cans of their signature brews at some of their locations to enjoy at home. If you're dining in at one of their restaurants, they offer at least eleven different beers on tap.
They'll also occasionally offer seasonal beers for special occasions. Every season, they have a "seasonal beer dinner", which is a multi-course meal paired with the perfect beers to accompany the food.
