The history of Zales
Zales was founded in 1924 by Morris and William Zale and Ben Lipshy in Wichita Falls, Texas. They were successful almost right away because of a credit plan they had to help their customers be able to afford jewelry. It was called "a penny down and a dollar a week", and it meant that lots of people who couldn't pay for a piece of jewelry all at once could instead pay for it bit by bit.
By 1941, there were 12 Zales stores. In 1957, they opened their first store in a shopping mall. Today, there are 781 Zales locations.
Zales shares fun facts about jewelry

For instance, did you know that diamond rings are actually more modern than traditional? They really took off when De Beers started marketing diamonds in the late 1940s with the now iconic slogan "a diamond is forever."
One thing that is more traditional is jewelry made out of pearls, which ahve been popular for centuries. There are eight basic shapes pearls come in that are used to make jewelry.
Disposable costume jewelry became a thing starting in the 1930s. It was designed as an item that would be worn with one specific outfit. It became popular, with people like Elizabeth Taylor, Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Bette Davis, and Jackie O wearing costume jewelry over the years!
