The history of Z Gallerie
Z Gallerie was founded in 1979 by three siblings - Joe, Carole, and Mike Zeiden (though Carole now goes by Malfatti). They started out selling posters and framed prints out of their parents' garage. The company grew and grew, and they ended up opening a series of stores in Los Angeles. Soon, they added more than just posters to their offerings, and the rest is history! Their home furnishings line was added in 1982.
Today, there are 57 Z Gallerie locations in 21 different states.
Z Gallerie works hard to give back to the community
Did you know that Z Gallerie stores do a lot to give back to their local communites? The stores work on important causes that have a personal meaning for this family-run company.
One area they focus on is working with young people and children, as often these groups can't help themselves when they have tough times. They work with the USC Marshall School of BUsiness, the Dream Street Foundation, and more.
They also work with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, which they've done since 2002. That year was a sad one for hte Z Gallerie family, as the founding siblings' mother, Shirley Zeiden, died from pancreatic cancer then. To date, they've donated over half a million dollars to help pancreatic cancer research.
Another organization Z Gallerie supports in the American Diabetes Association Research Foundation, in memory of their family member Daniel Zeiden who passed away from complications from diabetes in 1995.
