The history of Timberland
Timberland was founded in 1918 by Nathan Swarts. He started out as an appreciate stitcher for a shoe-making place. Later on down the road, he ended up buying half an interest in a local shoe company and did a bunch of contract-based work for other shoe manufacturers. Within 3 years of that, he bought the rest of the interest and brought his sons on board to form the company.
Today, there are over 100 Timberland locations worldwide.
Timberland brought some innovative boots to the market
Timberland stores sell a whole bunch of different products, but the star of the show is unquestionably their boots. As their website states, it's "Bootopia - where boots reign supreme."
Their iconic footwear has been seen on a slew of celebrities, from pop star Rihanna to model and "it" girl Cara Delevingne to Pharrell, who bought a matching red pair with his wife Helen Lasichanh. And at least four members of the Kardashian family have been spotted wearing them (Khloe, Kendall, Kylie, and Kris).
But did you know that the technique used to make these boots was truly innovative when it was invented? The company used injection molding technology to create the boots.
That meant the shoes were waterproof and could be made in colder and warmer weather forms. The soles connected to the upper part of the shoes without any stitching at all - which is still a feature of the boots today!
