The history of The Container Store
The Container Store was created by Garrett Boone and Kip Tindell. The two had been working at Montgomery Ward, and came up with the idea for their own store. The very first The Container Store opened in 1978 on July 1. It was actually the first store in the retail category of storage and organization.
