The history of The Capital Grille
The Capital Grille was founded in 1990 by a man named Edward P. Grace III (Ned for short). His first restaurant was located in Providence, Rhode Island, and became known for its great steaks in the area. The chain expanded, and went public in 1994. Today, there are 51 Capital Grille locations.
Why was The Capital Grille a surprising success for many people?
When the very first Capital Grille restaurant opened, lots of people weren't expecting it to last very long at all! However, those people were proved wrong. Today, there are over 50 Capital Grille locations and there are many happy eaters who can't get enough of their food.
So, what makes the Capital Grille special - and what made people doubt it in the first place?
To find out the answer, we've got to back to 1990, when the restaurant first opened. The restaurant was a bit of an oddball on the dining scene. First of all, it was located in what used to be a quite rundown area of Providence, Rhode Island - not the best place to open a fancy steakhouse! It was also opened during an economic recession, which often isn't the best time to open a higher-end priced business.
But the restaurant's focus on quality stood out, and it's still a success today!
