The history of Sur La Table
Sur La Table was founded in 1972 by Shirley Collins. Did you know that the first location was in the famous Pike Place Market in Seattle? She was in charge of the comapny until 1995, when she sold it. Today, it's owned by Inevstcorp and is the second-biggest seller of specialty cookware in the country.
Sur La Table shares some things you might not know about their company
If you just adore Sur La Table, then we recommend checking out the company's official blog, called A Sharp Knife and Salt. You can find it at blog.surlatable.com, where you can find tons of great articles about the company, food in general, and lots more.
One of the most fun articles they published was one sharing things you might not have known about their company. For instance, were you aware that their customer service representatives wear a chef's hat and a skinny moustache as part of their uniform?
Also, did you know that instead of holding up his fists, Rocky was originally supposed to hold up a Sur La Table frying pan? And that their headquarters feature a life-sized statue of Julia Child made out of cheese?
If this sounds ridiculous to you....there's good news! This article was actually published on April 1 - a.k.a. April Fool's Day. Yep, none of that is true!
