The history of New York & Company
New York & Company started out with a company called Lerner Shops, which was opened in 1918 by the Lerner brothers, who made blouses. This brand was bought by Limited Brands in 1985, who decided to change its name to Lerner New York just a few years later. In 1995, New York & Company was introduced as one of the labels sold at Lerner New York.
In 2002, it was bought from Limited Brands and became an independent company - which is New York & Company today!
New York & Company teams up with fashionable celebrities
Lots of stores work with celebrities so they can create special lines to entice and draw in more customers. New York & Company is one of those companies!
One of their more recent collaborations is with actress Eva Mendes, who launched The Eva Mendes Collection in 2013. The line features a very feminine take on fashion, including lots of lace, polka dots, floral patterns, and accessories - especially hats! The collection featured a lot of blue and orange tones.
But Eve Mendes isn't the only celebrity that they've worked with over the years. Other famous faces who have lent their names and sense of style to New York & Company collections include models Brooke Shields, Cindy Crawford, and Iman; actresses Eva Longoria and Ellen Pompeo; TV presenter Maria Menounos; and singer Jennifer Hudson. All of them have added their own twist and tastes to classic professional clothing.
