Nebraska Furniture Mart was founded in 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska. The founder of the store was a woman named Rose Blumkin, although most of her customers knew her as Mrs. B! She started off the chain of stores with just a $500 investment. Her goal was to sell inexpensive but nice items. She worked there until she was 103 years old!
Today, there are 4 Nebraska Furnitue Mart locations - in Omaha, Kansas City, The Colony in Texas, and Clive in Iowa.

The center is well known for putting on extravagant stage shows and screening great movies. In its heydey, it was one of the most glamorous places in all of the Midwest to be entertained.
The theater was originally named the Riviera, and it was built in 1926.The owner sold it to the Paramount Company, so it became the Paramount Theater for a while. It was leased to a few different companies and for a while a bowling alley before being converted back into a theater, this time with the name the Astro.
In 1981, Rose Blumkin bought the theater. She renovated it and called it the Rose Blumkin Performing Arts Center.
