MAC Cosmetics, also styed as M-A-C Cosmetics, was founded in 1984 by Frank Angelo and Frank Toskan in Toronto, Canada. Their big break into the United States came when department store Nordstrom started selling their products. Today, MAC is one of the three biggest makeup brands in the entire world and have over 500 stores.
MAC pays tribute to fallen star Selena Quintanilla
MAC Cosmetics has a long history of big success as one of the biggest makeup brands on the planet. And one of their best-selling collections of all time was actually their customers' idea!
It all started out as a petition that was posted online on Change.org. The proposal was that MAC Cosmetics create a line of makeup inspired by singer Selena Quintanilla Perez. In September 2016, the proposal came true!
Even better, MAC worked with Selena's sister Suzette to make sure that the collection really represented the singer and what she would have wanted.
The collection was an instant hit, selling out in just hours in MAC stores and in department stores that sell MAC makeup. There were lines out the door with fans eager to get their hands on makeup. Lots walked away disappointed. But, there's good news! The "MAC Selena" collection was so popular they'll be bringing it back.
