How World War II helped JoS. A. Bank's business
It's no surprise that big, world changing events can have an impact on a store's everyday business; after all, they do shake things up all over the globe. World War II was one event that saw a lot of changes in businesses, one of which was JoS. A. Bank.
Here's what happened. After the war ended, there was a real shortage of tailored clothing for men. Men just couldn't find it. So, JoS. A. Bank noticed what was happening and started going after this segment of the market. They focused on selling just men's tailored clothing.
They also came up with a clever sales strategy. Rather than doing wholesale deals, they decided to sell directly to the customers who were looking for tailored clothing. They did that through a store called Louie's, Inc., in Washington, D.C.
Today, JoS. A. Bank is still known for its men's tailored clothing.
