The history of J Crew
J Crew's roots go back to a store called Popular Club Plan that was founded by Saul Charles and Mitchell Cinader, and sold women's clothing at low prices. But with the rise of popularity of catalog shopping, the founders took another loko at their business and launched a catalog operation that sold casual clothing for upper-middle class shoppers.
In 1989, the name was changed to J Crew, and the store has become one of the top brands for casual yet stylish outfits since.
