Frontier, all the offers at your fingertips

Frontier Airlines is a low cost airline based out of Colorado.

All about Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines is one of the newer airlines in the United States, but it already flies to 54 destinations within the United States plus an additional 5 to other locations outside of the country. Their main hub is at Denver International Airport, although they also have focus cities around the country, including Atlanta, Chicago, and Orlando. Their slogan is "Low fares done right."

If you love to fly with Frontier Airlines, consider joining their frequent flyer program. Theirs is called EarlyReturns, and lets you collect points for the miles you fly with Frontier. The only downside is it's not part of any alliance, so you can't get points for miles flown with other airlines. Don't forget to add Frontier Airlines to your favorites here on Tiendeo to get all the latest Frontier Airlines coupons and discounts!

The history of Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines was founded in 1994 after Continental Airlines decided to shut down its Denver Hub. Just five months after, Frontier was already flying routes from Denver to four other cities.

By the following year, they had already expanded rapidly and were operating under the slogan "The Spirit of the West."

Today, busiess is going strongly and Frontier Airlines serves destinations across the country. They've since switched from Boeing to Airbus airplanes, and all of their planes currently have slimline seats. Frontiner has plans to offer more routes by using Atlanta as one of their focus cities.

The other Frontier Airlines

For long time travelers, this may not be the first time they've heard of a Frontier Airlines. That's because there did used to be an airline of the same name!

This company was founded in 1950, though it didn't become a big player until 1967. Still, the original Frontier started getting tough competition from the rest of the airlines. It ended up being sold in 1985 to People Express, a low cost air carrier.

The following year, in 1986, People Express was purchased by Continental - and so, Frontier Airlines came to and end.

But now there's a new Frontier Airlines, only this time it's been created after Continental scaled down its service. However, this Frontier Airways has also been bought by a larger airline. In 2009, Frontier officially became one of the subsidiares of Republic Airlines.

Southwest Airlines has also been interested, but Frontier Airlines finally outbid them.
