The history of Express
Express was opened in 1980, and back then it was part of Limited Brands (who still own major stores like Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret). The test run of the shops went well, and it was expanded. In 1986, there were 250 locations across the United States.
But it wasn't until 2000 that Express sold both men's and women's clothes. Men's clothes had been tested in the store but ended up becoming its own brand (called Structure). This was reintegrated into the Express brand as Express Men, and Structure was sold to Sears.
Express experiments when it comes to denim
Just about everybody wants a good pair of jeans in their closet, and Express has been trying out lots of different denim styles over the years to make the perfect pair.
For instance, they had a 2006 collection just for men called King of Prides. The year before, they'd released the DPD jeans that had special stitching on the back pockets. The jeans were discontinued in 2009 and replaced by a line called Rerocks, which featured designs for men and women. The stitching on the back pockets is similar to the DPD ones, but Rerocks are made out of a different material.
Their denim range today has four styles for women and four styles for men. They come in four washes and different fits that range from skin-tight to loose. All the jeans have differnet names, like Stella and Zelda for women and Rocco and Kingston for men.
Who knew there were so many different types of jeans?
