Charlotte Russe, all the offers at your fingertips

Charlotte Russe is a retailer that sells fashionable clothing mainly to teens and young women. You can shop their products in stores, online, and on their mobile app.

All about Charlotte Russe

Charlotte Russe was named after its owners’ favorite childhood dessert and the first store opened in 1975. The clients are commonly called ‘Charlotte girls’ and they can buy clothes, shoes, dresses, jeans, jewelry, accessories in stores. Charlotte Russe’s main competitors are Deb ShopsForever 21H&M, and Rue21

The stores' main customers are teens and young women in their 20s. But, as one of the founding brothers said, "We attract women of a certain attitude, not age." They recently expanded their offerings to include a plus size range, and you can find Charlotte Russe locations in 46 out of 50 states.

For frequent shoppers, the store has an app that offers special Charlotte Russe discounts and offers like free shipping.

The history of Charlotte Russe

Charlotte Russe was founded in 1975 by Daniel Lawrence, along with his two brothers. The three boys had grown up working in their dad's clothing store, so when they grew up they decided they wanted to start their own store, too.

They started the Lawrence Merchandising Corp., and they opened their first Charlotte Russe store. It was located in southern California near San Diego in Carlsbad. They got inspired by the name because it had been their favorite dessert as kids. Soon, there were multiple Charlotte Russe locations all over southern California.

Their stores instantly stood out from the rest of the pack because they were so much bigger than the average store back then - nearly four times as big, in fact! Today, there are 560 Charlotte Russe locations across the U.S.

Charlotte Russe is more than just a clothing retailer – it’s also a famous dessert!

Charlotte Russe may be where you go to find a cute new outfit, but did you know that it’s also a dessert?

The traditional Charlotte Russe is a cake formed from a circle of ladyfingers and filled with either Bavarian cream or custard. You can add flavors to it with things like cooked fruit, brandy, or spices.

New Yorkers gave the dessert their own spin by creating it out of sponge cake and whipped cream, and adding Maraschino cherries to top it off.

The dessert started to become less popular after World War II. Today, the once-popular cake is still hard to find in the city. However, creative home cooks are adding their own twists to the recipe, and you can find ones like a blackberry and cinnamon Charlotte Russe online.
