The history of Lufthansa
The roots of what has become the biggest German airline started in 1926 with a company called Deutsche Luft Hansa A.G. was started in Berlin. It became the flag carrier airline for the country until after World War II, when Nazi Germany had been defeated.
Out of this company grew a new one called Luftag in 1953, which had many of the same employees. They acquired the name of the former airline, and two years later had approval to start flying domestically, then internationally the following month. Today, Lufthansa is one of the best-known airlines in the world.
