6 detox recipes for after Christmas

Did you go a bit over-board on food at Christmas? Us too. That’s why today we give you some ideas for detoxing, to purify the excesses and, incidentally, start to shift those extra pounds that have crept on the tummy, hips, legs and chin, thanks to all those cookies, pigs-in-blankets, turkey leftovers and chocolate. Soooo delicious.

FIRST COURSE

1. QUINOA SALAD WITH LIME & CORIANDER

Quinoa is your new best friend! IT contains lots of amino acids essential for the body, thus balancing blood sugar levels. Even more, its high fiber content helps the digestive system eliminate toxins, making it a great purifier.

The combination of quinoa with lime and coriander will give your recipe an exotic flavour. Also, lime is very good for your health: it contributes to burning fats and its low calorific value makes it an excellent ingredient for detox diets.

2. ASPARAGUS & SPINACH SOUP

Don’t be put off by the name of the recipe, give a try. Of Swedish origen, it is a creamy soup which is nutritous, tasty and aids digestion. Asparagus is a food which is rich in water (85% to be exact!). And we have read that they contain no fat or cholesterol. You read that right: NO FAT, NO CHOLESTEROL!

On the other hand, spinach is an ingredient rich in calcium and magnesium that will provide antioxident sustances and help us prevent a number of diseases.

MAIN COURSE

1. SALMON WITH SOY

Salmon is characterized as a blue fish which is rich in unsaturated acids and has many nutritional benefits. Eating it helps reduce cholesterol by providing benefits to the heart and circulatory system thanks to its Omega-3 content.

To enhance its flavor, you can dress it with a drizzle of soy sauce.

2. ORANGE TURKEY

This turkey recipe is very simple and low in calories. It is an appetizing meat dish ideal for the carnivore inside you. Turkey breast is a very lean meat that contains almost no fats and is rich in protein.It also has a high iron content, a key mineral for keeping our immune system on top form. On the other had, the vitamin C found in oranges helps to create collagen, to keep your tissues in tip-top condition. Come on, what more could you ask for?!

DESSERTS

1. JELLY/JELL-O

Did you know that jelly/jell-o is made from gelatin, which is an animal collagen? Collagen is responsible for maintaining the bones and regenerating the joints by acting naturally to stop the aging process and keep the body firm. So, if you don’t want your butt to look like jell-o, you know what to do.

2. CARROT, APPLE & CELERY JUICE

The juices of fruits and vegetables, besides being very refreshing, have a great detoxifying properties and contain lots of vitamins. Preparing detox shakes, juices, and smoothies at home is the perfect way to get rid of the residues that have accumulated over the holidays.
